AseriesofPr-CothinfilmsweredepositedontheSi(100)substrateswithCrunderlayerbymagnetronsputtering.Theeffectsofboththepost-annealingtemperatureandtheannealingtimeonthemicrostructureandmagneticpropertiesforthePr-Cofilmswerestudiedsystematically.Theas-depositedPr-Cothinfilmsaremostlyamorphousandtendtocrystallizeafterannealingattemperaturesabove600℃.Whentheannealingtimeisincreased,thefilmsshowacomplicatedstructurewithvariousphasesco-existing.Accordingly,theas-depositedfilmandlowtemperatureannealedfilmsaresoftmagnetsandfilmsannealedattemperaturesbeyond600℃tendtobehardmagnets.Whentheannealingtimeisincreasedfrom5minto2h,thefilmstransferfromhardmagnetstosoftagain.Thesampleannealedat600℃for10minshowsthelargestcoercivityof0.59T.
