CommondisplayssuchasCRTorLCDscreenshavelimitedcapabilitiesindisplayingmostcolorspectracorrectly.Themaindisadvantageofthesedevicesisthattheyworkwiththreeprimariesandthecolorsdisplayedarethemixtureofthesethreecolours.Consequentlythesedevicescanbeconfusingintestinghumancoloridentification,becausethespectraldistributionofthecolorsdisplayedisthecombinedspectrumofthethreeprimaries.Wehavedevelopedanewinstrumentforspectrallycorrectcolorvisionmeasurement.Thisinstrumentuseslightemittingdiodes(LEDs)andiscapableofproducingallspectraofperceivablecolors,thuswithappropriatetestmethodsthisinstrumentcanbeareliableandusefultoolintestinghumancolorvisionandinverifyingcolorvisioncorrection.
