A Biomimetic Hip Joint Simulator and its Application in in vitro Study of the Integrity of Replacement Cemented Hip

    摘要 Abiomimetichipjointsimulatorthatcanbeusedtoevaluatetheoutcomeofthecementedtotalhipreplacementhasbeendesigned,manufacturedandevaluated.Thesimulatorproducesmotionintheextension/flexionplane,withasockettorotateinternal/externally.Atthesametimeadynamicloadingcycleisapplied.Avalidationtestwasperformedonacementedfemoralstemwithinanovelcompositefemur.Thebonequalityhasastrongeffectonthestemmigrationandontheintegrityoftheinterfaces.Themigrationofthestemisacombinationof3-Dtranslationandrotationofthestem.Underthesameloadingconditions,weakboneallowsmorestemmigrationthanstrongbone.Thereisagreatdecreaseinthestrengthofthestem-cementinterfaceafterthedynamictest,andtheweakbonecompositeexhibitedagreaterreductionininterfacialstrengththanthestrongbonecomposite.Thedecreaseoftheinterfacialstrengthindicatesthattheprimarybondingbetweenthestemandthecementmantlehaddeterioratedandtheintegrityofstem-cementinterfacewasdamaged.Thestudydemonstratesthevalueofusingahipjointsimulatortoinvestigatestemmigrationandinterfaceintegritywithinthecementedhipreplacement,suggestingthatmethodcanbeusedforinvitroevaluationofthebiomaterialsusedinthecementedhipreplacements.
