Magneticpropertiesandmagnetocaloriceffects(MCEs)ofthePrSicompoundwerestudied.ThePrSicompoundundergoesasecond-orderferromagnetic-to-paramagnetictransitionattheCurietemperatureofTC=52K.LargeMCEwithnomagnetichysteresislossisobservedaroundTC.Themaximumvaluesofmagneticentropychange(DS)arefoundtobe-8.6and-15.3Jkg-1K-1forthemagneticfieldchangesof0–2Tand0–5T,respectively.ThelargeDSwithnohysteresismakesPrSicompoundacompetitivecandidateformagneticrefrigerant.
