Wingmotionofadragonflyinthemaneuveringflight,whichwasmeasuredbyWangetal.[1]wasinvestigated.Equationsofmotionforamaneuveringflightofaninsectwerederived.Theseequationswereappliedforanalyzingthemaneuveringflight.Inertialforcesandmomentsactingonabodyandwingswereestimatedbyusingtheseequationsandthemeasuredmotionsofthebodyandthewings.Theresultsindicatedthefollowingcharacteristicsofthisflight:(1)Thephasedifferenceinflappingmotionbetweenthetwoforewingsandtwohindwings,andthephasedifferencebetweentheflappingmotionandthefeatheringmotionofthefourwingsareequaltothoseinasteadyforwardflightwiththemaximumefficiency.(2)Thecamberchangeandthefeatheringmotionweremainlycontrolledbymusclesatthewingbases.
