Sixtransitionmetaloxideswereaddedinceria-modifiedtitaniausingasol-gelmethodforcatalyticoxidationoftoluene.AnMnOxbasedcatalystwasfoundtobethemostactiveone,withwhichtoluenecouldbedecomposedcompletelyat200oC.ThegreatestMn/Tiandmolarratioofthemobileoxygentothetotaloxygenconcentration,togetherwithalargesurfaceareaandalowreductionpeak-startingtemperature,wouldresultinitsbestactivityintolueneoxidation.
