Passively spatiotemporal gain-modulation-induced stable pulsing operation of a random fiber laser

    摘要 Unlikeatraditionalfiberlaserwithadefinedresonantcavity,arandomfiberlaser(RFL),whoseoperationisbasedondistributedfeedbackandgainviaRayleighscattering(RS)andstimulatedRamanscatteringinalongpassivefiber,hasfundamentalscientificchallengesinpulsingoperationforitsremarkablecavity-freefeature.Forthetimebeing,stablepulsedRFLutilizingapassivemethodhasnotbeenreported.Here,weproposeandexperimentallyrealizethepassivespatiotemporalgain-modulation-inducedstablepulsingoperationofcounterpumpedRFL.Thankstothegoodtemporalstabilityofanemployedpumpingamplifiedspontaneousemissionsourceandthesuperiorityofthispulsegenerationscheme,astableandregularpulsetraincanbeobtained.Furthermore,thepumphysteresisandbistabilityphenomenawiththegenerationofhigh-orderStokeslightispresented,andthedynamicsofpulsingoperationisdiscussedafterthetheoreticalinvestigationofthecounterpumpedRFL.ThisworkextendsourcomprehensionoftemporalpropertyofRFLandpavesaneffectivenovelavenuefortheexplorationofpulsedRFLwithstructuralsimplicity,lowcost,andstableoutput.
