ItisquitecommonthatCollegestudents’writingsareoftenloadedofordinarywordsandmonotonoussentencepatternsbecausetheyoftendeliberatelyavoidsomelanguagestructuresandconjunctions.ThiskindofsketchyandhollowwritingsmayhindertheimprovementofEnglishwritingskill.Thispaperfirstresearchesthisavoidancephenomenonfromthreeaspects:lexis,syntax,anddiscourse,thenexploresthereasonsbehindit,andfinallyputsforthsomeinstructivesuggestionsforimprovingthiscondition.
