Structuralintegrityisstatedasthescienceandtechnologyofmarginbetweensafetyanddisaster.Systematicpredictionofstructuralintegrityofcriticalstructuressuchascombustionchambers,pressurevessels,nuclearreactorcomponents,boilersetc.,ensuresthehumansafety,environmentalprotection,andtheeconomicalconsiderations.Thepresentworkaimsatpredictionoffatiguebehaviourofsymmetricstructureslikepressurevesselsinthepresenceofcommonweldingdefectssuchaslackoffusion(LOF),lackofpenetration(LOP)andporosity.Aringtypespecimenwhichreplicatesthestresspatterninthepressurevesselisconsideredforthestudyofseverityofweldimperfections.InitialdimensionsofwelddefectsarearrivedbyperformingNDTinspection.Crackgrowthanalysisiscarriedouttodeterminetheremaininglifeoftheweldedjointwithdefects.
