Mathematical modeling of fluid flow and level profile during twin-roll strip casting process

    摘要 Intwin-rollstripcastingprocess,transportphenomenaoffluidinthemoltenpooldirectlyaffecttheprocessstabilityandthequalityofproducts.Inordertoelucidatethefundamentaltransportphenomenaintwin-rollcasting,acommercialsoftwarecalledProCASTwasemployedtosimulatethetransientfluidflowandlevelprofilebehaviorsduringtheearlystageoftheprocessinthisstudy.Thecoupledsetofgoverningdifferentialequationsformass,momentumandenergybalanceweresolvedwiththefiniteelementmethodandthetransientfreesurfaceproblemwastreatedwithavolumeoffluids(VOF)approach.Theeffectofdifferentdeliverysystemsconfigurationonflowpattern,levelprofileinthepoolwasstudiedandanalyzedinthispaper.Thenewwedgemetaldeliverysystemshavebeenoptimizedforthetwin-rollstripcaster.Itwasshownthatnewtypemetaldeliverysystemshadapreferableeffectontheuniformdistributionoffluidandlevelfluctuationinthepool.Thesimulationresultsalsoprovideavaluablebasisfortheoptimizationofdeliverysystemandprocessparametersduringtheinitialpouringstage.
