Sliding response of gravity dams including vertical seismic accelerations

    摘要 Seismicsafetyassessmentofgravitydamshasbecomeamajorconcerninmanyregionsoftheworldwhiletheeffectsofverticalseismicaccelerationsontheresponseofstructuresremainpoorlyunderstood.Thispaperfirstinvestigatestheeffectofincludingverticalaccelerationsintheslidingresponseanalysisofgravitydamssubjectedtoarangeofhistoricalgroundmotionrecordsseparatedintwogroupsaccordingtotheirsource-to-sitedistance.Analysesshowedthattheincidenceofverticalaccelerationsontheslidingresponseofgravitydamsissignificantlyhigherfornear-sourcerecordsthanforfarsourcerecords.Thepseudo-static30%loadcombinationrule,commonlyusedinpracticetoaccountforthenon-simultaneousoccurrenceofthepeakhorizontalandverticalaccelerations,yieldedgoodapproximationsoftheminimumsafetyfactorsagainstslidingcomputedfromtime-historyanalyses.Amethodforempiricallyestimatingtheverticalresponsespectrabasedonhorizontalspectra,accountingforthedifferenceinfrequencycontentandamplitudesbetweenthetwocomponentsisinvestigated.Resultsfromanalysesusingspectrumcompatiblehorizontalandverticalsyntheticrecordsalsoapproximatedwelltheslidingresponseofagravitydamsubjectedtoseriesofsimultaneoushorizontalandverticalhistoricalearthquakerecords.
