ByadoptingthesolidmodelingsoftwareSoldEdgeandtheenmeshmentsoftwareSRIFCastasthepre-processingplatform,aNibasedalloyturbinebladewasthree-dimensionallymodeledandautomaticallyenmeshed.Asoftwarecodefornumericalsimulationoffluidflowandheattransferwasdeveloped.TheXuecriterionandNiyamacriterionwereusedtopredictthepositionoftheshrinkagedefectsoccurringinthesolidificationprocessesoftheturbineblade.TheresultsshowedthatbothXueandNiyamacriteriacouldpreciselypredicttheshrinkagedefectsintheNibasedalloyturbineblade.Thisindicatesthatnumericalsimulationisasignificanttoolinimprovingcastingquality.
