Mitogenactivated-proteinkinases(MAPKs)areimportantcomponentsinsignaltransductionpathwaysrespondingtovariousbioticandabioticstresses.AnMAPKgene,OsMPK14(GenBankAccessionNo.GQ265780)fromrice(OryzasativaL.),wasclonedbyRT-PCR.Thefull-lengthcDNAofOsMPK14consistsof1660bpinsize,containinganopenreadingframeof1629bp,whichencodesa542-amino-acidpolypeptideandhasatypicalproteinkinasedomainandaphosphorylationactivationmotifTDY.SequencealignmentandanalysisrevealedthatOsMPK14waslocatedonricechromosome5,andcomposedofnineexonsandeightintronsinthecodingregion.Semi-quantitativeRT-PCRwasperformedtodetecttheexpressionpatternsofOsMPK14inriceshootsandrootsunderdarkness,drought,highsalinity,lowtemperatureandabscisicacidtreatments.TheOsMPK14mRNAwasinducedbyabscisicacid,lowtemperatureandhighsalinity,butweaklyinhibitedbydrought.Inaddition,theexpressionofOsMPK14wasup-regulatedinroots,butdown-regulatedinshootsbylight.TheresultsindicatethatOsMPK14couldbeimplicatedindiversericestimuli-responsivesignalingcascades,anditsexpressionmightberegulatedbymultiplefactors.
