摘要
Waveguidingpropertiesofsilicananowiresinvariousenvironmentsarestudiedbysolvingtheeigenvalueequationsofacircularcross-sectionwaveguidenumericallyincylindricalcoordinates.Thesingle-modecondition,propagationconstants,poyntingvectorandpowerdistributioninsideandoutsidesilicananowirearecalculated.Theresultsshowthatsilicananowiresinwater,comparedwithsilicananowiresinair,havehigherfractionoftheevanescentfields.Duetothesensitivitytosurroundingenvironment,silicananowiresareverysuitableforsensingelements,whichcanbeusedtoimplementasingle-modefiberopticevanescentwavesensingelementofhighlysensitiveandaccuratemeasurement.
