Computational Fluid Dynamics Benchmark of an Impulse Turbine with Fixed Guide Vanes

    摘要 ThispaperpresentsthecomparisonofathreedimensionalComputationalFluidDynamics(CFD)analysiswithempiricalperformancedataofa0.6mimpulseturbinewithfixedguidevanesusedforwaveenergypowerconversion.Pro-Engineer,GambitandFluent6wereusedtocreatea3-Dmodeloftheturbine.Ahybridmeshingschemewasusedwithhexahedralcellsinthenearbladeregionandtetrahedralandpyramidcellsintherestofthedomain.Theturbinehasahub-to-tipratioof0.6andresultswereobtainedoverawiderangeofflowcoefficients.Themodelyieldedamaximumefficiencyofapproximately54%ascomparedtoamaximumefficiencyofaround49%fromexperiment.Adegreeofinsightintoflowbehaviour,notpossiblewithexperiment,wasobtained.
