ThisarticlepresentstheresultsofanumericalsimulationonthevortexinducedvibrationofvariousfinnedcylindersatlowReynoldsnumber.Thenon-dimensional,incompressibleNavier-Stokesequationsandcontinuityequationwereadoptedtosimulatethefluidaroundthecylinder.Thecylinder(withorwithoutfins)influidflowwasapproximatedasamass-springsystem.Thefluid-bodyinteractionofthecylinderwithfinsanduniformflowwasnumericallysimulatedbyapplyingthedisplacementandstressiterativecomputationonthefluid-bodyinterfaces.Bothvortexstructuresandresponseamplitudesofcylinderswithvariousarrangementsoffinswereanalyzedanddiscussed.TheremarkabledecreaseofresponseamplitudefortheadditionsofTriangle60finsandQuadrangle45finswasfoundtobecomparablewiththatofbarecylinder.However,theadditionsofTriangle00finsandQuadrangle00finsenhancetheresponseamplitudegreatly.Despitetheassumptionoftwo-dimensionallaminarflow,thepresentstudycangiveagoodinsightintothephenomenaofcylinderswithvariousarrangementsoffins.
