ThevariabilityofmainchemicalcompositionofradialChinesefirwasstudied.Analysisofvarianceshowedthatvariancewassignificant,especiallyforholocelluloseandα-cellulose;theholocellulosecontentinheartwoodwaslowerthanthatinsapwood;thelignincontentdecreasedfromPosition1toPosition3,butincreasedgraduallyfromPosition4toPosition8;theα-cellulosecontentinheartwoodwaslowerthanthatinsapwood;andtherelativecrystallinitywas59.97%inPosition1,60.80%inPosition2,andabout42%inothers.
