TheIraqwaristhebiggestexperimentalsiteofBushismandthesuccessorfailureofthewartherehasadirectbearingonthespreadofBushismasastrategicmodel.HenceitisnecessarytomakeasystematicassessmentofAmerica'ssituationinIraq.ThecurrentsituationshowsthattheUnitedhasgotintoanunprecedentedstrategichaziness.Inthesecurityfield,U.S.forceshavedispatchedlargenumberoftroopstocarryoutsuppressionandwonfrequentvictories,buttheyaresufferingstrongerresistances.Intherealmofpoliticalreconstruction,thedemocraticprocessinIraqisnowunderinaccordancewiththeprescribedorder,butreligiouscontradictionsareontherise,andpoliticalstructuresbecomemorefragile.Overeconomicreconstruction,theUnitedStateshaskeptincreasinginputandatthesametimeappealedtotheinternationalcommunityformoreassistance.EventhoughIraqisfacedwithdifficultiesinthereconstruction.Therefore,thereisawideningdisagreementinAmericaover"whethertheU.S.iswinningorlosingthewarinIraq."①BasedonthemajorviewsofexpertsandscholarsfrombothChinaandoverseas,theauthorthinksthatthefollowingthreecriteriaareimportantforjudgingwhethertheUnitedStateshassucceededorfailedinpursuingitsstrategyinIraq:thefeasibilityofstrategicobjectives,balanceofobjectivesandmeansandadaptabilityofstrategicmeans.Judgedbytheabove-mentionedcriteria,theUnitedStatesisnowlandinginastrategicpredicamentinIraq.
