摘要 FollowingtherecommendationoftheInternationalCommissiononStratigraphy(16votesYes[94%],1abstention,2votesnotreceived),theGlobalboundaryStratotypeSectionandPoint(GSSP)forthebaseoftheTuronianStageoftheCretaceousSystemisdefinedasthebaseofbed86oftheBridgeCreekLimestoneMemberoftheGreenhornLimestoneFormationatthewesternendoftheDenverandRioGrandeRailroadcutnearthenorthboundaryofthePuebloReservoirStateParkRecreationArea,westofPueblo,Colorado,USA.ThisGSSPhorizonisalsoexposedandprotectedintheadjacentstaterecreationarea.ItcoincideswiththefirstoccurrenceoftheammoniteWatinocerasdevonense,isinthemiddleofaglobalpositiveexcursioninCarbon-13isotopes,andisbracketedbywidespreadbentonitesthathaveyieldedagesof93to93.5Ma.
