摘要 ObservationoftheoperationoftheSanmenxiaReservoirontheYellowRiverhasledtotheconclusionthattopreserveacertaineffectivestoragevolumeforreservoirsbuiltonheavilysilt-ladenriversisfeasibleifthereservoirisoperatedaccordingtotheprincipleknownas"storingtheclearwateranddischargingthemuddyflow".Therelativestabilityofthebedelevationattheendofthebackwaterandthereservoir'serosionanddepositionequilibriumdependonthecompatibilityofthepoollevelmaintainedinnon-floodseasonswiththeconditionsofflowandsedimentloadduringfloodseasons.OperatingthereservoirtoregulatethefloodandsedimentloadduringfloodseasonscanreducetherateofaggradationintheLowerYellowRiver.Thebasicconditionforapplyingtheoperationmodeof"storingtheclearwateranddischargingthemuddyflow"isthatasufficientamountofwatershouldbeusedfordischargingsedimentduringfloodseasons.Undertheconditionofextremelylowflowyears,reservoirsedimentationcannotbeavoidedevenifthisoperationmodeisadopted.
