Researchthataddressesmalere-productivehealthshouldassistinthedevelopmentofreproductivehealthprogrammaesandpolicy;identifyandtestnewleadsinnudecontraceptivetechnology;establisheffectivemaleinvolvementinitiativeswhicharelikelytohaveapositiveimpactonthereproductivehealthofmenandwomen;guidetheallocationofhealthcarereourcestoensurecost-effectivenessofinterventions;generatenewknowledge,developdiagnustictechnologyinreproductivehealthandofferoptimaltreatment/careregimens.InconsideringtheneedsanddemandsofnudereproductivehealthresearchinAsiaandthePacific,thefollowingsixresearchtopicsarerecommendedasthepriorityresearchareas:malecontraceptivetechnology;nudereproductivehealthbehaviourandmaleadolescentreproductivehealth;malereproductiveagingincludingmalemenopauseandotherdiseases;maleRTIs,STDs,HIV/AIDS;prevalence,managementandpreventionofnudeinfertility;environmentandsemenqualityandothermalereproductiveproblems.Oneofthemajorchallengesnowfacingusistheelaburationofacomprehensive,yetrealisticmalereproductivehealthresearchagendathatreflecttheneedsanddemandsofAsiandevelopingcountries.Tothisend,tomakeuseofaninterdisciplinaryapproachisofstrategicimportance.Themostcreativeinsightsandproductiveleadsarelikelytoemergefromaresearchteamthatisinteldisciplinaryespeciallyinthefieldofreproductivehealth.(AsianJAndrol1999Jun;1:13-20)
