WepresentthenumericalanalysisofacoupledmethodforthenumericalsimulationoftransientviscoelasticflowobeyingadifferentialconstitutiveequationwithaNewtonianviscosity.TheschemeusedisbasedonEulerimplicitmethodintimeandmaintainsateachtimestepacoupleofthevelocityuandtheviscoelasticpartofthestressσ.Approximationinspaceismadebyfiniteelementmethod.Theapproximatestress,velocityandpressureare,respectively,P1-continuous,p2-continuous,andp1continuous.Upwindingneededforconvectionofσismadebya'StreamlineUpwindPetrovGalerkin'method(SUPG).
