Characterization of Microporous Activated Carbon Electrodes for Electric Double-layer Capacitors

    摘要 Activatedcarbons(ACs)withawiderangeofsurfaceareasweremadefrompetroleumcokebymeansofKOHactivation.Theelectrochemicalcharacterizationwascarriedoutforseveralactivatedcarbonsusedaspolarizableelectrodesofelectricdouble-layercapacitors(EDLCs)inanaqueouselectrolyticsolution.Theporousstructuresandelectrochemicaldouble-layercapacitanceoftheactivatedcarbonswereinvestigatedbyvirtueofnitrogengasadsorptionandconstantcurrentcycling(CCC)methods.Therelationshipamongthesurfacearea.porevolumeoftheactivatedcarbonsandspecificdouble-layercapacitancewasdiscussed.ItwasfoundthatthespecificcapacitanceofACsincreasedlinearlywiththeincreaseofsurfacearea.Thepresenceofmesoporesintheactivatedcarbonswithveryhighsurfacearea(>2000m^2/g)wasnotveryeffectiveforthemtobeusedasEDLCs.Theinfluenceofchemicalcharacteristicsoftheactivatedcarbonsonthedoublelayerformationcouldbeconsideredtobenegligible.
