Gene-diet interactions in gastric cancer risk: A systematic review

    摘要 AIM:Toconductasystematicreviewofthepublishedepidemiologicalstudiesinvestigatingtheassociationoftheinteractionsbetweengenevariantsanddietaryintakewithgastriccancerrisk.METHODS:AliteraturesearchwasconductedinPubMed,EMBASE,andMEDLINEforarticlespublishedbetweenJanuary2000andJuly2013,and38studieswereidentified.Previousstudiesincludedvariousdietaryfactors(e.g.,fruitsandvegetables,soybeanproducts,salt,meat,andalcohol)andgeneticvariantsthatareinvolvedinvariousmetabolicpathways.RESULTS:Studiessuggestthatindividualswhocarryhigh-riskgeneticvariantsanddemonstrateparticulardietaryhabitsmayhaveanincreasedriskofgastriccancercomparedwiththosewhodonotcarryhigh-riskgeneticvariants.Distinctivedietarypatternsandvariationsinthefrequencyofgeneticvariantsmayexplainthehigherincidenceofgastriccancerinaparticularregion.However,mostpreviousstudieshavelimitations,suchasasmallsamplesizeandaretrospectivecasecontroldesign.Inaddition,paststudieshavebeenunabletoelucidatethespecificmechanismingene-dietinteractionassociatedwithgastriccarcinogenesis.CONCLUSION:Additionallargeprospectiveepidemiologicalandexperimentalstudiesarerequiredtoidentifythegene-dietmetabolicpathwaysrelatedtogastriccancersusceptibility.
