Probe frequency- and field intensity-sensitive coherent control effects in an EIT-based periodic layered medium

    摘要 Aperiodiclayeredmedium,withunitcellsconsistingofadielectricandanelectromagnetically-inducedtransparency(EIT)-basedatomicvapor,isdesignedforlightpropagationmanipulation.Consideringthatadestructivequantuminterferencerelevanttoatwo-photonresonanceemergesinEIT-basedatomsinteractingwithbothcontrolandprobefields,anEIT-basedperiodiclayeredmediumexhibitsaflexiblefrequency-sensitiveopticalresponse,whereaverysmallvariationintheprobefrequencycanleadtoadrasticvariationinreflectanceandtransmittance.ThepresentEIT-basedperiodiclayeredstructurecanresultincontrollableopticalprocessesthatdependsensitivelyontheexternalcontrolfield.Thetunableandsensitiveopticalresponseinducedbythequantuminterferenceofamulti-levelatomicsystemcanbeappliedinthefabricationofnewphotonicandquantumopticaldevices.Thismaterialwillalsoopenagoodperspectivefortheapplicationofsuchdesignsinseveralnewfields,includingphotonicmicrocircuitsorintegratedopticalcircuits.
