Animprovedsmoke-wireflowvisualizationtechniqueusingalargecapacitorasthepowersourcewasproposed.Electriccurrentdischargedfromcapacitorswasusedtoheatafinemetalwiresuspendedintheflowfield.Theoildropletsattachedtothewirewerevaporizedandsmokefilamentsfollowedtheflowmotions.Adigitalcamerawasusedtorecordtheimagesofthesmokefilaments.Theactionsofdischargingandcamerashutterweretriggeredbysignalsfromamicrocontrollertoensuretheaccuratetiming.Clearimagesofthestreaklineswerecapturedatafreestreamvelocityupto12.9m/s,muchhigherthanthelimitsoftheexistingtechniques.
