Sincethe18thNationalCongressoftheCommunistPartyofChina(CPC),theCPCCentralCommitteewithComradeXiJinpingatitscorehasbeenexploring,innovatingandprovidingguidancefortheadvanceofChina’sdiplomacy,withaninsightfulgraspofthefutureofmankind,thetrendofthetimesandthestrategicdirectionofChina’srelationswiththerestoftheworld.GeneralSecretaryXiJinpinghasputforwardaseriesofnewproposals,initiatives,conceptsandtheoriesondiplomacy,andhasgraduallyformedhisinnovativethoughtondiplomacyfeaturingdistinctivecharacteristicsofthetime.XiJinping’sthoughtondiplomacyaddressesnewissuesfacingChina’sdiplomacybyrelyingonandutilizingtheMarxistposition,viewpointsandapproaches.Itanswerssuchkeyquestionsaswhatmajor-countrydiplomacywithChinesecharacteristicsisandhowthisconceptcanbecarriedout,anddefinestheguidingphilosophy,basicprinciples,primarytasks,strategiesandtacticsofconductingexternalworkinanewera.XiJinping’sthoughtondiplomacyisascientifictheoreticalsystemwhichisrich,comprehensiveandprofound.1ItisanimportantcomponentoftheXiJinpingThoughtonSocialismwithChineseCharacteristicsforaNewEra,andaguidingprinciplewithasolidtheoreticalfoundationforthedevelopmentofthemajor-countrydiplomacywithChinesecharacteristics.
