UEs Power Reduction Evolution with Adaptive Mechanism over LTE Wireless Networks

    摘要 Atpresent,themajordrawbackformobilephonesistheissueofpowerconsumption.Asoneofthealternativestodecreasethepowerconsumptionofstandard,power-hungrylocation-basedservicesusuallyrequiretheknowledgeofhowindividualphonefeaturesconsumepower.Atypicalphonefeatureisthattheapplicationsrelatedtomultimediastreamingutilizemorepowerwhilereceiving,processing,anddisplayingthemultimediacontents,thuscontributingtotheincreasedpowerconsumption.Thereisagrowingconcernthatcurrentbatterymoduleshavelimitedcapabilityinfulfillingthelong-termenergyneedfortheprogressonthemobilephonebecauseofincreasingpowerconsumptionduringmultimediastreamingprocesses.Consideringthis,inthispaper,weprovideanofflinemeaningsleep-modemethodtocomputetheminimumpowerconsumptioncomparingwiththepower-onsolutiontosavepowerbyimplementingenergyrateadaptation(RA)mechanismbasedonmobileexcessenergylevelpurposetosavebatterypoweruse.OursimulationresultsshowthatourRAmethodpreservesefficientpowerwhileachievingbetterthroughputcomparedwiththemechanismwithoutrateadaptation(WRA).
