Providingefficientaccesstomorethan300TBofexperimentdataistheresponsibilityoftheBaBar^1DatabasesGroup.Unlikegenerictools,TheEventBrowserpresentsuserswithanabstractionoftheBaBardatamodel.MultithreadedCORBA^2serversperformdatabaseoperationsusingsmalltransactionsinanefforttoavoidlockcontentionissuesandprovideadequateresponsetimes.TheGUIclientisimplementedinJavaandcanbeeasilydeployedthroughoutthecommunityintheformofawebapplet.Thebrowserallowsuserstoexaminecollectionsofrelatedphysicseventsandidentifyassociationsbetweenthecollectionsandthephysicalfilesinwhichtheyreside,helpingadministratorsdistributedatatoothersitesworldwide,ThispaperdiscussesthevariousaspectsoftheEventBrowserincludingrequirements,designchallengesandkeyfeaturesofthecurrentimplementation.
