摘要 Theforcedlengtheningofanactivatedskeletalmusclehasbeentermedaneccentriccontraction（EC）.ThisreviewhighlightsthemechanicallyuniquenatureoftheECandfocusesonthespecificdisruptionofproteinswithinthecellknownascytoskeletalproteins.Themajorintermediatefilamentcytoskeletalprotein,desmin,hasbeenthefocusofworkinthisareabecausechangestodesminoccurwithinminutesofECsandbecausedesminhasbeenshowntoplaybothamechanicalandbiologicroleinamuscle＇sresponsetoEC.Itishopedthatthesetypesofstudieswillassistindecreasingtheincidenceofmuscleinjuryinathletesandfacilitatingthedevelopmentofnewtherapiestotreatmuscleinjuries.
