Density Perturbation and Energy Flux of Internal Waves from Velocity Data

    摘要 Internalwavesplayacrucialroleinoceanmixing,anddensityperturbationandenergyfluxareessentialquantitiestoinvestigatethegenerationandpropagationofinternalwaves.Thispaperpresentsamethodologyforcalculatingdensityperturbationandenergyfluxofinternalwavesonlyusingavelocityfieldthatisbasedonlinearizedequationsforinternalwaves.ThemethodwastestedbynumericalsimulationsofinternalwavesgeneratedbytidalflowingoveraGaussiantopographyinastratifiedfluid.Thedensityperturbationsandenergyfluxesdeterminedusingourmethodthatonlyusedvelocitydataagreedwithdensityperturbationsandenergyfluxesdeterminedbytheequationofstatebasedontemperaturedata.Themeanrelativeerror(MRE)androotmeansquareerror(RMSE)betweenthetwomethodswerelowerthan5%and10%respectively.Inaddition,anexperimentwasperformedtoexamourmethodusingthevelocityfieldmeasuredbyParticleImageVelocimetry(PIV),andthesetupoftheexperimentisconsistentwiththenumericalmodel.TheresultsoftheexperimentscalculatedbythemethodsusingPIVdatawerealsogenerallyequaltothoseofthenumericalmodel.
