摘要 Thehedgehog-patched(hh-ptc)intercellularsignalingpathwayhasrecentlybeenshowntocontroltheproliferationofepithelialstemcellsinbothDrosophilaandVertebrated.MutantandectopicexpressionanalysesinDrosophilasuggestthattheHHproteindiffusesfromthesignalingcellstopromotetheproliferationofnearbyovariansomaticstemcellsbyantagonizingthesuppressionofitsreceptorPTCtowardstheCItranscriptionfactorinthestemcells.Consequently,thetranscriptionofCIdependentgenesleadstostemcellproliferation.Thisregulatorypathwayappearstofunctionalsoinvertebrates,wheredefectsinptccausebasalcellcarcinoma,tumorsofepidermalstemcellorigin.BasalcellcarcinomacanalsobeinducedbyectopicexpressionofSonichedgehog(shh)orGlil,thevertebratehomologofci.Thesestudiessuggesttheconservationofthehhsignalingpathwayincontrollingepithelialstemcelldivisionsamongdifferentorganisma.
