Byinvestigatingtheeffectsondeepoceanambientnoiseoftyphoon'KAI-TAK'whichpassedthenorthareaoftheSouthChinaSea,itisshownthatthewindspeed,therainfallintensityandthelongwaveswellcausedbytyphoonaffecttheoceanambientnoisesignificantly.Thecorrelationbetweentheoceanambientnoiseandthewindspeedduringthetyphoonismuchbetterthanthatinthenon-typhoonperiodinthesameBeaufortscale.Analysisofthecorrelationbetweenthe415hoceanambientnoisemeasureddataandwindspeedshowsthat,whenthefrequencyisgreaterthan300Hz,thecorrelationcoefficientbetweentheoceanambientnoiseandthewindspeedisgreaterthan0.5,achievingamoderatecorrelation;whenthefrequencyisgreaterthan630Hz,thecorrelationcoefficientisbetween0.8and0.9,achievingahighdegreeofcorrelation.Thecorrelationbetweentheoceanambientnoiseandthewindspeedisbetterthanthatbetweentheoceanambientnoiseandthesignificantwaveheightwhenthefrequencyisgreaterthan300Hz.Thecorrelationbetweentheoceanambientnoiseandthewindspeedininfrasonicbandfrom10Hzto20HzispoorintheSouthChinaSea,becausetheshippingisbusyinthisseaareaandtheoceanambientnoiseiscontaminatedbytheshipnoiseevenduringthetyphoon.
