Mixing of two different electrolyte solutions in electromagnetic rectangular mixers

    摘要 Thisstudyproposesanewelectromagneticrectangularmixer,andnumericallyexaminesthemixingcharacteristicsoftwodifferentelectrolytesolutionsinthedeviceunderauniformmagneticfield.Themixerconsistsofaconduitwithelectrodesequippedonitstopandbottomwalls.Thedifferenceintheelectricpotentialsappliedtothesetsofelectrodesinducesthecurrent.ThecombinationoftheinducedcurrentandmagneticfieldyieldsLorentzforce,resultinginthefluidmotionforpumpingandmixingofthetwodifferentfluids.ThenumericalsimulationiscarriedoutwiththeuseofcommercialsoftwareCFX.Thepresentnumericalmodelisvalidatedbyanexistingnumericalwork.Theeffectofdifferentvariablesonmixingefficiencyisinvestigatedinmanydifferentcaseswithtwodifferentheightsoftheductandvariousinputvoltagesoftheelectrodes.Thecurrentsimulationresultsindicatethatthemixingperformancecanbeenhancedbyusingmultiplesetsofelectrodesandapplyinghigherinputvoltages(absolutevalues)totheelectrodes.
