Simulation of the Effect of a Metal Vapor Arc on Electrode Erosion in Liquid Metal Current Limiting Device

    摘要 Theeffectofarcplasmaonelectrodeerosioninaliquidmetalcurrentlimiter(LMCL)isstudied.Basedonasimplifiedtwo-dimensionalmagnetohydrodynamicmodel,theelongatedGaInSnmetalvaporarcanditscontractionprocessinaliquidmetalcurrentlimiteraresimulated.Thedistributionsoftemperature,pressureandvelocityofthearcplasmaarecalculated.Thesimulationresultsindicatethattheelectrodeerosionismainlycausedbytwohightemperaturegasjetflowsarisingfromthepressuregradient,whichisaresultofthenon-uniformarctemperaturedistribution.Thegasflows,whichactasjetsontotheelectrodesurface,leadtotheevaporationoftheelectrodematerialformthesurface.Aredesignstructureoftheelectrodeisproposedandimplementedaccordingtotheanalysis,whichgreatlyincreasedtheservicelifeoftheelectrode.
