Apilotstudywasconductedtoproducehighperformancegreenceramsitebyusingsewagesludge,flyashandsilt.AccordingtothetheoryofRiley,theproportionsofrawmaterialswerechosentoperformthesinteringexperiments.Thereby,theoptimumproportionofsludge,flyashandsiltandsinteringparametersweredetermined.Themicrostructureoftheoptimizedmixtureandtheleachingofheavymetalelementswerealsoanalyzed.Thelabtestingresultsshowthatsinteringparametershavesignificantimpactontheperformanceofceramsite.Forsolidwasteceramsitewithhighlossofignition,inadequatepre-burningprocesslowersthestrengthandincreasesthewaterabsorption.Lowwaterabsorptioncanbeachievedbytheenameledsurfaceandclosedporestructure.Thehighperformancegreenceramsitehasthedensitygradeof700,waterabsorptionof6%andcompressivestrengthof6.6MPa.Theceramsiteismainlycomposedofcristobaliteandmullite.Theleachingofheavymetalelementsfromthesolidwasteceramsitearelowerthanthelimitsrequiredbythenationalstandard.Thisstudyshowsthattheutilizationofsolidwasteceramsiteasthelightweightaggregateisfeasibleandsafe.
