A6-layer,4°×5°horizontalresolutionglobaloceanmodelhasbeendesignedandimproved.Aftera100-yearin-tegration,anequilibriumstatehasbeenreachedfromtheuppertolowerlayers.Bytakingthemeanstateoflastl0mod-elyearsasclimaticstate,weanalyzedthecharacteristicsoftheseasonalvariationinourmodelintegration.Theresultsshowthatthesimulatedseasonalvariationissimilartotheobserved.Sothedesignofourmodelissuccessful.Then,us-ingthesimulatedclimaticstateoftheseasonalvariationastheinitialstate,andtheobservedstressandthermalstateastheatmosphericforcing,wesimulatedtheprocessofElNinoin1972—1973successfully.Thesimulatedresultsofsea-sonalvariationusingourmodelwillbepresentedinpartI.
