    摘要 Aimofpresentworkistoreplaceasbestosinthermalinsulationbyanotherpercentageofnon-toxicfillerssuchassilica.DifferentformulationsoffillerswerepreparedandaddedtoNordel(Tradenameassignedforethylene,propyleneand1,4-hexadieneelastomers).Thephysicalandmechanicalproperties(afterandbeforeaging),andthermalpropertiesofthepreparedsampleswereinvestigated.Theobjectivewastochooseanewformulationwithpropertiesthatresembleascloselyaspossiblethoseoftheoriginallyusedinthermalinsulation.Aftermeasuringthepropertiesoftensilestrength,elongation,hardness,specificgravity,compressionset,reboundresilience,thermalconductivity,andinitialandfinaldecompositiontemperatures,thesamplethathadvaluesveryclosetothoseoftheoriginallyusedinthermalinsulationwaschosenandrecommendedtobeused.FromcomparisonitwasfoundthatEPDMrubberwith50%silicagavetheoptimumpropertiesclosesttotheoriginallyused.
